By now, you have already found your perfect swimsuit to bring out your inner mermaid this summer. There are a lot of great trends for swimwear such as gingham, one pieces and high-waisted bottoms, just to name a few. What I realized is that I have a bunch of great suits, but my cover ups don’t really match, and I don’t really like that I can only wear them over my swimsuit and not much else. I prefer multi-use garments when possible—the more wears the better. After dedicating some time in my last shopping trip (by this I mean drinking wine in sweats ambitiously clicking “add to cart”), I have put together three alternative cover-up looks that you can wear from the beach to the boardwalk.
Co-ords
Summer is all about ease for me; I don’t like to over-style or overthink. I really love the coordinate trend because it makes getting ready for a beach trip so simple. The prints and styles for sets right now are all geared towards the beach and tropics, perfect to wear over your swimsuit or alone. I found this Kissed by the Sun Set from Free People. It’s flowy and very Bohemian, perfect to cover a two-piece suit.
Flowy Trousers
One-piece suits are dominating retailers, so it’s really hard to pick just one. Put on a pair of light and breezy trousers like these high waist crops from Nordstrom and you have a really chic look. Plus, they are easy to fold and stuff in your travel bag.
Beach Rompers
Rompers are perfect to wear over any bathing suit and they are easy to slip on. I prefer these in the summer instead of a dress only because I am usually chasing after my three-year-old and now toting a newborn. I love the print on this off-the-shoulder style from ASOS.
