The ice cream popsicles at Owowcow were inspired by timeless childhood memories of hot summer days, melting pops and playing a street game called “hit the stick,” says owner John Fezzuoglio—he invites readers to learn to play for themselves at owowcow.com/games.
The pop-making process always begins with Owowcow's locally sourced organic cream, eggs and honey. “All local stuff,” says Fezzuoglio.
“Our popsicles are handcrafted by our pop queen, Christine, who's turned popsicle making into an art form. She begins by layering the ice cream and inclusions in the pop mold, then hand dips each pop into our rich, imported Belgian dark chocolate.”
Fezzuoglio says the team's excitement is irrepressible, so they're always conjuring up flavor varieties that will surprise and delight. “We also offer monthly flavors based on seasonal availability of local fruit and berries,” he says. “House vanilla, vanilla salted caramel and triple chocolate popsicles are a few of our classics available year-round.”
Featured popsicles range from mango raspberry and passion fruit guava sorbet to chocolate-covered pretzel and birthday cake. The latter celebrates Owowcow's 10 years of ice cream making and uses their house-baked yellow cake, which is layered with vanilla ice cream, hand dipped in white chocolate and topped with all-natural rainbow sprinkles.
