In a distant land known as Easton, I found myself lost without a GPS and missing an innate sense of direction. As an Allentown native and college student from Bethlehem, I hardly find myself venturing beyond those nearby boundaries. With some regions of the Lehigh Valley still without power from Sandy's aftermath, I was driving frantically on pitch-dark roads while following misguided directions from frustrated gas attendants. I arrived plenty late and flustered to the Grand Eastonian where I was warmly greeted with relief at The Downtown Easton Fashion Show!
Sitting front row at a fashion show is probably one of my many favorite things about interning at LVS. This time though, it was different. I'm here, as a stand-in photographer and I have to deliver. The show featured fashions from The Easton Outdoor Company, The Denim Project, Phyllis and Twice Chic Boutique. I was super impressed with The Denim Project's outfits—they were so on point with current trends and had fabulously styled models. I loved the edgy leather-on-jean look that worked for the men and women.
Mercantile Home also had a cozy mix of fashion from their winter collection. There was a wide variety of styles from holiday gowns and fur wraps, to vintage and every day wear. The gowns definitely got me excited for all of the upcoming winter festivities. The show proudly displayed Easton's thriving local boutiques and I'm pleasantly surprised at how the Lehigh Valley is home to these amazing finds. It's time to highlight Easton for all of their wonderful gems and draw more attention back to this retail hotspot.
