All is Right with the World . . . Well Almost

: My excursion included a stop at Home & Planet in South Side Bethlehem.

It's a good thing I got my car back from the shop because last week was my Valley-wide quest to collect all those Weddings in Style issue goodies from local boutiques. I may no longer have a loose tube flailing under the hood and sloshing steering fluid all over creation, but my baby is still not 100%. She needs to be dosed with car medicine at intervals until I can get her leak patched up. She lets me know when she's running low with a sound kind of like the angry squeal of a robot pig. So it was with some trepidation that I sallied forth on a dreary Thursday.

My time at each shop was all sunshine. Helpful store owners, cute items and a brief chat with an appreciative reader all made my quest a success. But even with my car more or less not exploding, I wasn't without obstacles. The biggest hurdle to all my excursions has always been my own pathetic navigational skills. Though I equipped myself with two pages of detailed directions, I managed to stray into a random neighborhood and pollute the tranquil air with robot pig squeals. But I'm proud to say I was only lost in Allentown for about 15 minutes. For me, that's practically not lost at all.

Today has been much quieter. Today I ate a doughnut with pink icing and scrolled through pictures of beautiful flowers, researching trends in wedding bouquets. I spent a meditative hour and a half emptying and re-stuffing binders (the November proofbook). My deskside picture of Jeff Goldblum in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension looks on as if to say, “Good work, Daisy.” All is right with the world. Almost all!

Next week I hope to be able to say I've heard the last of the robot pig.
