Hi! I'm Elizabeth Archer, one of the fall 2012 editorial interns! As a recent college grad, I'm still trying to find my path and make my presence known in a world now overflowing with job-seekers. As an English major, I was told day in and day out that I'd end up in the field of education . . . if I found a job at all. I spent the majority of my four years in college thinking I'd continue on to graduate school and a doctoral program to become a professor, or that I'd obtain my education degree to become a teacher. While I have so much respect and admiration for the education field, I just didn't feel that was where I truly belonged. Instead, I wanted to could combine my talent for reading and writing with my love of beauty, fashion and lifestyle, and write for a leading lifestyle magazine. So, here I am!
I grew up in Berks County and attended Seton Hall University in Northern New Jersey. As a result, I became accustomed to a more fast-paced life and crowded streets, navigating an underground web of public transportation and all of the other madness that makes up the rush of New York City. Though I love the city, there's nothing quite like the serene beauty of the Lehigh Valley area, and I look forward to rediscovering all that my hometown has to offer, participating in exciting local events and putting all of my new experiences into writing.
Though it's only the end of August, we've already traded in our sundresses and sandals for winter coats and boots (editorially-speaking). We're in the midst of our November issue, which will include the famous Decadent Dish feature, covering the best restaurants of the region (as chosen by your votes!), along with food-related articles and the beginnings of holiday entertaining. Not only do I love food (don't we all?) and the autumn season (again, don't we all?), but I was a restaurant blogger in a previous internship so I feel right at home. I feel like my first day here sums up the magazine as a whole; it makes readers feel at home.
This might be my first magazine experience, but I'm already so excited about what our fall and winter issues have to offer. So as we all sadly say goodbye to summer, I'm so happy to say hello to you, our readers, and welcome both a new season and a new chapter in my life. I look forward to my time here at Lehigh Valley Style!
