Appearing on the music scene like a mermaid on the crest of a wave, Sea Rae brings her own sound to the Lehigh Valley: mesmerizing vocals laced with electronic beats.
When she started out with her acoustic guitar in eighth grade, high school songwriter cafes and open mics gave Allentown's Ciara Rae Alvarado a place to share her voice, and from this proving ground she “went full force” after graduating. That was a year and a half ago, and she's been gigging ever since, releasing a new original track on a monthly basis.
Sea Rae's bountiful creativity is inspired by performers like Lady Gaga, Banks and Stevie Nicks, whose witchy ways with artifice and honesty show in Sea Rae's persona. Though she also performs covers of contemporary, '80s and '90s hits in her own style, Sea Rae's originals reflect the power of art to help and heal us. (See if you can guess which of her songs is about the driving anxiety she dealt with after a serious accident.) “Art has helped me in so many ways,” Alvarado says. “I'm happy as long as any type of venue can take some of that away with them.”
Bringing an SPD-S drum pad to her shows, Sea Rae uses this instrument to trigger the strands of her electronic songs as she sings. They're programmed by her partner, DJ Brown, who makes this power couple complete as producer/videographer.
Sea Rae has played at spots like Broadway Social, SteelStacks, The Wooden Match, Queen City BBQ and an East Coast tour including Philly, New York and Toronto venues. At the end of this month, she's heading to Los Angeles for a West Coast tour, but you can always hear her music online. Find her next gig on Instagram.
