Summertime is all about cookouts, cold drinks and cut offs. When the Fourth of July rolls around, we are in the peak of warm days and cool nights. Invites to barbecues, beach trips and firework displays are always my cue to find that perfect “Americana” look. Of course, you can buy an American flag print scarf or tee, but let's face it: You will never wear it again. You want to look festive, without looking festive (say no to anything with lights). Below I have highlighted four ways to celebrate your red, white and blue.
1. Traditional Trendy
So many throwback brands have gotten a facelift and are on trend right now. Tommy Hilfiger has redefined his label and really marries fun and patriotism with his designs. I love this jumpsuit because the colors are bright and the stripes are different widths, so you can wear it more than once.
2. One is Enough
If you are going to wear something with an American flag, just pick one thing. Maybe it's a hat, a tank or even a pair of flip flops, but stop there. You can also opt for something that isn't related to the holiday, such as this silver star tee. I would wear this all year with shorts or tucked into a skirt.
3. Denim with Denim
Denim is the best option for the Fourth of July. Think distressed jeans or cut offs, even a great jumpsuit or denim dress. Any of these options would work, and the best part is that they will go with anything. Mixing and matching your denim is a great way to have a classic yet modern look. Think dark denim with light, and patterned with plain, etc.
4. Accentuate Your Accessories
Little additions can make a big impact. A red or stars and stripes bandana can be tied around your neck or wrist in place of jewelry. You could also find a great patriotic baseball cap and wear it backwards or off to the side for a playful look.
