What was once a non-arable industrial site in Bethlehem has been completely transformed into Bowery Farming—a resilient, reliable and sustainable produce farm. “We use less land and less water to grow fresh, pesticide-free produce,” says Chief Commercial Officer Katie Seawell. “In fact, we’re 100 times more productive on the same footprint of land, compared to traditional farming.”
Bowery’s new indoor farming location in Bethlehem is powered by 100-percent renewable energy, which allows for more with less and delivers their product to beyond 50 million people within a 200-mile radius. “We chose Bethlehem in response to a spike in demand for local, pesticide-free produce in the region,” she says. Their full product line, including crispy leaf lettuce, baby butter lettuce, arugula and mustard frills, will be produced in Bethlehem and can be found on the shelves of local Whole Foods and Giant stores, Albertsons Companies stores and Amazon Fresh.
