JuxtaHub is a nonprofit community center connecting the people of Emmaus through art, food and technology. “The idea for JuxtaHub was born several years ago when a group of about 40 people assembled to brainstorm the possibility of a community arts center,” says board member Shea Zukowski. “The ideas quickly grew to include a unique interdisciplinary facility that could serve people of all ages and help drive economic growth in the region.”
JuxtaHub is a volunteer-driven organization that seeks to bring an entirely new face to the community experience in the Lehigh Valley. “Our vision is to create an intergenerational facility that features artist studios, digital and physical maker spaces where people can collaborate and create new things, a multipurpose classroom suitable for art instruction, a dance studio, a black box theater and a commercial kitchen where food entrepreneurs can create products,” says Zukowski.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has hindered the rollout of this in-person workspace, JuxtaHub is making do by hosting virtual programming until they can allow full access into their building. “JuxtaHub exists because we believe collaboration is the key to transformation,” says Zukowski. “Whether they’re attending a dance class or a theater event, renting studio space or learning how to make something new, we hope people find something meaningful to discover at every visit.”
