Top Food, Drinks and Shopping in the Lehigh Valley This Week
1. Garlic Knot Crust Pizza
There are so many outrageous pizza variations at The Pizza Joint, making it extremely difficult to pick just one ridiculously delicious menu item, but we decided to go with the garlic knot crust pizza, because WHAT. According to their Instagram post, you can customize any pizza order with a garlic knot crust and we’re obviously never ordering pizza any other way again. Another notable menu item dubbed as “Lunch Box Pizza,” a mouth-watering pizza variety box, has been floating around The Pizza Joint’s social media pages in addition to “stuffed pizzas” … so we’re now lost down the rabbit hole of what are we going to order next?
2. Christmas City Cluckery
Continuing on the food journey of 2021, SteelStacks just announced the opening of their curbside pick-up pop-up kitchen featuring all things fried chicken. The kitchen is only open on certain days of the week but the full schedule is available at christmascitycluckery.com. You’ll find fried chicken salad and a Southern fried chicken tender sandwich, as well sides like five-cheese mac & cheese, collard greens and baked beans, plus dessert options like doughnut holes with caramel and chocolate dipping sauces and maple brown sugar bread pudding. See ya later, “eating better in 2021.”
3. Pressed Bouquet Shop
Starting out as a one-woman show, Amelia of the Pressed Bouquet Shop in Easton now employs a team of pressers and designers, and has recently opened a brick-and-mortar shop in Easton dedicated to preserving flower arrangements. Focusing on the pressing and framing of special occasion flowers, the team frames weddings bouquets, funeral flowers, wildflowers and “just because” flowers. The shop also offers fun gift items such as petal toss bags, flower pedal sachets and floral pressed frames, all available for order on their website.
4. Herbal Tonic
For those of you who want something a little healthier than garlic knot pizza and fried chicken, this is for you. Tooth of the Lion Farm in Schuykill County has a treasure trove of herbal teas, tonics and elixirs that provide energy and balance, sleep, stress and anxiety support and so much more. All products from Tooth of the Lion are certified naturally grown and are local, transparent and fresh. These particular herbal tonics are meant to be taken as a daily herbal shot for whole-body support and can be added to water, tea or juice. Each tonic has a specific healing purpose, and a variety can be found at the Highmark Farmstand at the Easton Public Market or ordered online for curbside pick-up.
5. Gourmet Olive Oil
Accustomed to high-caliber olive oil as a child in Greece, Dr. Nicholas Varvarelis wanted to make the olive oil of his family orchards in Amaliapoli, Greece available to the Lehigh Valley and so Vitality Orchards was born. This Slatington company offers Family Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Early Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil all available for easy online ordering.
