Adele Schwartz-Munsterman first started making cakes as a hobby more than 20 years ago. She didn’t get serious about turning her penchant for baking into a business until 2014, a few years after she lost her first husband to cancer. “I needed something to help me move forward and out of my grief,” she says. She later remarried and her current husband, Mike, has joined her at Custom Cakes by Adele. “All of our cakes and icings are scratch-made; nothing comes from a mix. We are known for our delicious, not-overly-sweet vanilla-bean buttercream, our perfectly smooth iced cakes and, most of all, our gorgeous, handmade sugar flowers.”
