Community Music School Lehigh Valley & Berks (CMS) presents an afternoon of reflection, inspiration, and music at the non-profit’s annual Spring Brunch & Silent Auction fundraiser to be held Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Lehigh Country Club. This year’s Brunch will reflect on the transformational move to CMS’s new home at 1544 Hamilton Street, Allentown, as well as honor the inspirational Founding Director of CMS, Martha Maletz, who passed away on March 22. Honorary Chairs are long-time CMS supporters and Lehigh Valley philanthropic leaders, Dr. Lona Farr and Mr. David Voellinger.
The family-friendly event runs from 12:00 – 3:00 pm and includes a fine dining brunch buffet presented by Lehigh Country Club, a silent auction featuring local artisans, and musical performances by CMS students and faculty on piano, violin, flute, guitar, ukulele, and more. Featured faculty members slated to perform include Dr. David Saturen, piano; Dr. Tzu-Hwa Ho, piano; Elaine Martin, flute; Linda Kistler, violin; Carolyn Gaul, violin. The main musical program features the new CMS Big Band, directed by Clifford Haltzman Tracy, performing hits such as “Rainy Day” by Jimmy Van Heusen, “Tuxedo Junction” by Glenn Miller, and “April in Paris” by Vernon Duke, as played by Count Basie.

Martin & Co., BB&T, Klunk & Millan Advertising, Inc., Norris McLaughlin Marcus, PA, and New Tripoli Bank, with additional support from Allen Organ Company, LLC, Scoblionko, Scoblionko, Muir & Melman, Arbor Insurance Group, Inc., Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, and DeSales University.
During the 2017-18 year, CMS provided over $69,000 in financial aid and scholarships for music study. The community’s support of this annual event allows CMS to continue to successfully provide the inspiration and opportunity for anyone in our diverse community to achieve excellence in music education. In September 2018, CMS completed a much-anticipated move to our new home at 1544 Hamilton Street in Allentown. In just a few months, this renovated space has allowed us to expand group programming, welcome many new students, and provide exciting musical opportunities for all members of the Lehigh Valley community.
Individual reservations are $85 for adults or $25 for children under 12 and must be made in advance before April 19. Named tables and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
