Conveniently held in two locations and on two days, the D&L's Volunteer Kick Off Days will help you find a volunteer opportunity to suit your lifestyle. Whether you have a few hours or a whole summer, whether you love to work outside or prefer to be indoors, there's a place for you among the D&L's volunteer corp. From scouts to students, recent grads or retirees, our volunteers are as diverse as the work they do for the D&L and the National Canal Museum
Find your way to give back to the D&L, the non-profit that connects you to nature, culture, community, recreation and industrial heritage via the D&L Trail and the National Canal Museum. Stop by, meet the D&L Staff and explore our variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
-- Trail Maintenance/Field Work: Trail Tenders, Trail Patrol, Canal structure maintenance, planting & gardening
-- National Canal Museum/Education: Docents, Field Trip educators, D&L Archives assistants
-- Administrative Support: Writing/editing, membership & mailing, cartography, grant writing
-- Social Media: Photography, experience sharing, original artwork, D&L Blog
-- Public Outreach: Event promotion, development, flyer & brochure making, marketing
-- Events: Get Your Tail on the Trail, dinner Auction, Luncheons, National Trials Day
-- D&L Heritage Half Marathon: Runner's packets, set up and clean up, water/food distribution, safety/parking
