Don’t miss this limited-run performance produced by our friends at American Monarch Theatre Company, in celebration of our new Destination: Northampton County exhibition.
Lauded by The New York Times as “A deeply satisfying musical, with much on its mind about history, humanity, man and God, and the American Dream. It beckons to theatergoers with a taste for rich characters in a tale that touches the heart, glows with humor and soothes the ear.”
Based on the real experiences of a Russian-Jewish emigrant, The Immigrant tells the story Haskell Harelik, who arrives at the port of Galveston, Texas in 1909 seeking refuge from his homeland. He finds compassion and friendship from an unlikely couple, falls in love, and creates a life for his family in pursuit of the American dream.
Check back for ticket purchase information. This matinee performance will be followed by a talk-back with the actors and director.
This performance is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Engaged Humanities Consortium, with generous support provided by a grant to Lafayette College from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
