Sunday, September 8th is International Literacy Day, and Ten Thousand Villages is proud to be hosting author Carol Hart Metzker. She will be in our store between 1 and 3 p.m. to sign copies of her book Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery. Metzker invites informal conversations with shoppers about her experiences with survivors of human trafficking in PA and overseas, and about the role of fair trade and literacy in preventing modern slavery. She understands firsthand that to demand fair trade products and to teach all children to read can transform hurt into hope.
