to
LUAG (Lehigh University Art Galleries) 420 E. Packer Avenue, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18015
Major intergovernmental conferences and resolutions have established international principles regarding the restitution of art and other cultural property, and there have been as a result some positive steps towards the restitution of movable artwork and cultural and religious property plundered from Jews and others by the Nazis and their allies in the greatest art theft in history. After a worldwide overview of restitution of art and other cultural and religious property since the end of World War II, discussion will focus on current struggles over ownership and restitution, and the relation of all this to collective memory.
Dr. Wesley A. Fisher is Director of Research for the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany and is responsible for the Claims Conference/World Jewish Restitution Organization Looted Art and Cultural Property Initiative.
