to
Miller Symphony Hall 23 N. 6th St., Allentown, Pennsylvania
The ASO’s 2019-2020 Classical Season opens with a re-known pianist Olga Kern performing Rachmaninoff’s towering 2nd Piano Concerto. Recognized as one of her generation’s great artists, Kern jumpstarted her U.S. career with an historic Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition- the first woman to do so in more than thirty years. Maestro Wittry complements the “Blue” opener with two contemporary compositions – Michael Torke’s Bright Blue Music and Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral. The concert completes with the greatest waltz of all time – the Strauss Blue Danube.
