Featured will be 2 floors of sleek passenger and powerful freight trains in continuous operation, located at 900 East Macada Road, Bethlehem PA, 18017. Join us to see and try out the upgraded capabilities of train operation via mobile apps. Visitors are welcome to inquire about Scout Night on December 10th, 2019 from 7 until 8:30 pm. Membership applications are available, as well. We have a new Timesaver O 3-rail switching layout built in order for visitors to learn more about the model railroad hobby, understand what trains are designed to do by spotting cars at industries, assembling and disassembling trains, and do this in a timely manner or as a friendly competition. The goal is to experience the fun of model railroading, and discover the ease of operation via a Bluetooth phone app. The first floor 650 square foot layout features models of O, On30 and S scale steam trains from the glory days of railroading to the mighty diesel locomotives of today, including prototype sights and sounds. Operating semaphores and signals further enhance the display. The second floor 800 square foot HO scale display has a multitude of trains in operation, including a loaded coal train stretching to more than 100 cars powered by multiple diesel locomotives winding past just-completed roundhouse scenery modifications. A miniature trolley travels between a village and a distant amusement park with both an operating ski lift and rides. The suggested donation is $5 per person, free for those 12 and under. Those with children under 40 inches tall bring a step stool to make it easier for them to see the displays. Pre-owned trains, structures, accessories and books are for sale. There is ample parking, as the club shares the lot with St. Thomas’ UCC.. For more information, please call 610-867-2591 or go to http://www.bdsme.org/
