Historic Bethlehem
Are you ready to sightsee around downtown Bethlehem, the “Christmas City”?
We’ll begin by walking through Nisky Hill Cemetery, which overlooks southside Bethlehem. We’ll meander past stately, historic homes, and stroll in “God’s Little Acre” cemetery to find flat headstones that date to the 1740s. We’ll stop at the Nain House, built in 1758 in the nearby Lenapi village, and moved in 1765 to Heckewelder Place. Then there’s the award-winning Hotel Bethlehem and Central Moravian Church. Before returning to your car, you may want to stop and shop and/or have lunch at the many businesses along Main Street.
Dress in layers according to the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Maybe bring hiking poles to navigate some of the “historic” lumpy sidewalks! Dogs are not allowed in the two cemeteries. Bathrooms are available in restaurants you patronize.
This walk is free and is part of the Get Out For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online at: https://engage.wildlandspa.org/calendar/event/180.
