You are invited to expand your quest for better health with tens of thousands worldwide and to be part of a beneficial global event, known as World Tai Chi and Qigong Day.... at 10 AM in 100s of cities, in over 80 nations. Locally we will "breathe together" for World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. This amazing event will be held as part of the Allentown Cherry Blossom Festival.
WTCD will introduce the people of the Lehigh Valley to the health benefits of tai chi and qigong. The word Qigong (Chi Kung) is made up of two Chinese words. Qi is pronounced “chee” means the life force or vital-energy. Gong, pronounced gung, means accomplishment, or skill. Qigong means cultivating energy. It is a system practiced through out the world for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality.
T'ai Chi (a form of qigong) is a gentle series of relaxing motions that cleanse the body's tissue of accumulated stress while helping to maintain strength, flexibility and balance. Scientific research on tai chi supports the low-impact slow motion form of exercise as an adjunct to standard medical treatment for the prevention and rehabilitation of many health conditions. Harvard Medical School has called tai chi “medication in motion.”
Lehigh Valley Tai Chi & Qigong Instructor Hilary Smith, R.N. will lead the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day in a local community participation event at 10 AM. “Through learning to regulate the body, breath and mind, the practice of tai chi allows us to maintain our physical and emotional balance in response to the ever changing landscapes of daily life,” ~ Hilary Smith, R.N.
As part of the event, Artemis Morris, ND, MS, L. Ac will present: FIND YOUR BALANCE. Artemis will discuss methods of finding your balance through the practice of Tai Chi and Chinese medical healing modalities, such as acupuncture and Tui na.
