On September 20-21, join the adventurous and discerning citizens who will be satisfying their senses at the 18th Annual Riverside Festival of the Arts (RFA) in Easton. This highly regarded multi-media event features fine art, crafts, food, music and engaging activities for visitors of all ages.
The layout of RFA facilitates a friendly flow among the art and activities while generating many eddies of interaction among visitors and artists. The convivial convergence of fresh young talent and our area's seasoned eccentric creators always generates sparks as well as articulates future aesthetic paths for the greater Lehigh Valley.
Our lively regional literary scene is richly represented by maverick authors and poets galore. Don't miss the Easton Public Library's Children Poetry Troupe as they charm attendees with their unique renditions of intriguing material.
Cecily Ann Mowad is a huge fan of the festival. She is a professional artist who specializes in portrait painting and won first place for fine arts at last year's event.
“It was a great experience,” Mowad says. “I got a lot of positive feedback on my work and I made a lot of connections because I displayed there. I can say because of the RFA I created a base foundation for myself as an artist. I've gotten gallery shows because people contacted me from seeing my display there. I also got a job offer to teach a class at an up and coming studio/gallery, and that would have never happened if it were not for the RFA. It was a great decision as an artist helping me get my foot in the door, not to mention the whole weekend was a ton of fun. I can't wait to come back this year!”
The annual juried art show attracts many formidable competitors hoping for their share of the $1,600 in cash prizes awarded for both fine arts (painting, drawing, pastel, printmaking, photography and sculpture) and crafts (jewelry, mosaic, fabric and fiber, stained glass, metalwork, woodwork and clay). You will also want to stop by and experience the popular 5th annual en plein air art contest.
