With fall upon us and winter and the holidays quickly approaching, we sometimes forget to update a few things from summer to the colder months when it comes to beauty. Here are five things you can change or update to keep you from the winter blahs.
Hair
One of the easiest things to help hair in the winter months is to not wash it daily. Rinsing your hair and conditioning it only, will help keep the natural oils in and not dry the hair out. Other products on the market include dry shampoos and conditioners that can push your finished look a few extra days. Makeover sprays and products made for second day hair can help maintain more of your hair's natural oils.
Skin
We often think the products we use in summer can stay with us through the winter months. Not so. One easy change to make, go from a foam face wash to a cream one. Cream cleansers will help your skin adjust to the colder, drier weather. Also, make sure to use a cream moisturizer and not a lotion. Creams form a barrier and traps moisture into the skin. And just because it's winter doesn't mean the sun isn't damaging; always get a moisturizer with an SPF.
Lips
A quick and easy update for winter is lip color. With all the colors available, it's a fun way to change your look. This winter colors go from a deep Concord grape and almost purple black to a red-brown and a staple, classic red. If the deeper shades make you a bit nervous to try, look for those colors in a sheer finish. Also, make sure you are keeping your lips hydrated by using a non-scented lip balm. The scents can dry out your lips keeping them from being soft in the winter.
Eyes
One item most women have in their makeup kit is eyeliner. This season, go for bold with black. There are a few options this season with the application. Go for the classic wing or make it a bit exaggerated and closer to your eyebrow. Another option is to line your entire eye, including your water line for a dramatic effect. To soften it, smudge the lines for a smokey effect. And for fun, go for glitter. Glitter on eyelids is a great, fun, party look. You can do tone on tone or go for a fun color like pink to highlight another shade of eye shadow you already have on.
Party
Last holiday season we saw lots of sleek barrettes and elastics. It's time to put those away and go royal. For this holiday and party season, look for vintage headbands, rhinestone barrettes and clips. Center parts work well with baroque style headbands and side parts can show off those rhinestone barrettes and clips. More is better, so start checking out vintage shops, antique stores or even your grandmother's jewelry box.
With just a few changes to your everyday regimen or small updates to your makeup kits, you will be on trend for winter 2017.
