Let's face it: grandparents rock. They are the last-minute babysitters, the best gift givers and the wisest people in our lives. It's about time they receive a day in their recognition. With that said, here a few fun activities to celebrate your grandparents on September 10.
Lehigh Valley Zoo
At the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville, Grandparents will receive half-price admission. The day will be filled with arts and crafts for kids, along with keeper talks, feeding experiences with various animals, tours inside the kangaroo exhibit and new animals such as Luani the otter and Murphy the giraffe.
Apple Picking at Burnside Plantation
Load up your car and head over to Burnside Plantation in Bethlehem for its Apple Days. This event will run on September 9 and 10 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Admission is $5 per vehicle. The event will feature all things apple, including food, fun, demonstrations and an culinary contest.
Barnyard Fun
The produce at Grim's Greenhouse in Breinigsville will be ripe for the picking. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to pick your own apples and pumpkins, enjoy barn food and play with some barnyard animals.
Harvest Weekend
Join Vynecrest Vineyards & Winery for their Harvest Weekend on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail. The event will last from September 9 through 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tastings are $5 a person. Stuffed to the Grills food truck will be there both days to serve hungry mouths.
The Sigal Museum
Visit the Sigal Museum in Easton on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The museum will feature various exhibits, including their newest The Cat's Meow. Admission is $5 for senior citizens and children 3 to 12 and $7 for adults.
Allentown Art Museum
The Allentown Art Museum offers free admission on Sundays. See various exhibits such as Designing for the Loom: Drawings by William Geskes, Revolutionizing Design: Progressive Home Decorating at the Turn of the Century, Transcultural: A Mural by Rigo Peralta and others. The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
