If you want the lasting volume and curls of hot rollers but can't see yourself owning, storing and fussing with a set, try this technique we learned from Tangles Salon and Spa master stylist Laura Davis, requiring only your trusty curling iron and a roll of tinfoil.
Spray a 2-inch section of hair with a volumizing spray like Pureology's Root Lift ($22) and lay the lock in a folded length of foil from root to ends, just like a hot dog in a bun.
Close the foil over your hair, roll up from the end in your curling iron and hold for about 10 seconds. For shorter hair, this roll should stay put, but longer, heavier hair may need to be pinned in place.
Working back from the top of your head to the nape before tackling the sides, wrap and set sections until your head is covered in foil rolls. The foil will hold the heat in and really boost body.
Feel free to go about your business as your hair cools, then unwrap lush, bouncing curls!
