Woof! Meow...Rib-bit! Rib-bit?
Yes, this year ALL kinds of pets and their “parents” were encouraged to participate in our annual contest. When all the reader votes were counted, we were surprised to find one prince of a first place winner!
Contest sponsored and prizes provided by:
10. Simon
Pixie Bob | 2 years | Easton | Jayne Miller
Simon is an absolute sweetheart. When I come home, he runs up to me and rolls over; he LOVES to have his belly rubbed. He curls up and wraps his paws around your wrist so you don't stop. Truly, don't know what I'd do without him.
9. Mr. Casey Jones
Terrier-Mix | 4 years | Bethlehem | Tim & Vanessa Palumbo
Mr. Casey Jones is a rescue from a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. He loves rolling around on the carpet when he is excited, destroying small, plush squeak toys and crumpling up blankets into a nest to lie down on. He is notorious for messing up the living room couch, pillows and all, to make the ultimate napping spot.
8. Sophie
Wire Fox Terrier | 14 weeks | Whitehall | Joe & Christina Feiertag
Sophie, a very playful and energetic wire fox terrier, loves ice cubes. She recognizes the sound of the freezer drawer and comes running. Sophie will poke her head in the open freezer, steal an ice cube and run it back to her bed where she will play with it for some time and chew it to bits. After the ice has disappeared, she will then look around and dig in her bed to see where the ice has gone.
7. Roux
Miniature Dachshund | 5 months | Coopersburg | Sandy & Skip Gelatt
Our little Roux is a hoarder. When she finds something she likes, she takes off running. If we give her a treat she takes off running and hides somewhere to eat it. We have to empty her bed out daily of all her treasures she collects. She even pilfered my Fitbit. It took me three days to find it hidden behind the couch with a bone and a ball. Roux has the most amazing eyes that keep us from being mad at her for too long after we catch her chewing our shoes, stealing our stuff or just making a mess—and for a little dog she can make a big mess!
6. Gizmo
Crested Guinea Pig | 18 months | Northampton | Ashlee Benward & Brenda Benward
He lets me dress him up in outfits and is very sweet, friendly and lovable.

5. Callie
Golden Retriever | 3 months | Easton | Erick & Ann Marie Vaughn
Callie is a VERY energetic puppy who loves to run around with her owners, play fetch, roll around in dirt and sun bathe.
4. Sky
Shetland Sheepdog | 1 year | Whitehall | Denise & Phil Janenko
Sky is very stubborn. She was the only girl in a litter of seven puppies. Sky loves people and is training to become a therapy dog. She would like to follow in her “sister” Mia and “brother” Grayson's paw prints.

3. Melody
2 years | Wind Gap | Christine & Chris Penyak
Melody was born with a condition called Microphthalmia and has been blind since birth. She doesn't let this slow her down: she eats, sleeps on the bed, uses the litter box, plays with toys and gets around the house like our sighted cats. She loves to go to events as an alumni from the shelter she was adopted from to meet people and teach them that “special needs” animals are just as adoptable as any other animal!
2. Shorty
Pembroke Welsh Corgi | 4 years | Bath | Jenna Kearns
Shorty is always smiling and seems to understand what people are saying by the expressive looks on his face.
And Our Winner for 2015 is...
1. Albert
African Dwarf Frog | 18 months | Bethlehem | Star-Lena Quintana & Eric Estock
Albert has a great personality! He is a friendly little frog who gets along with his fellow tank mates and always comes out to see his owners. He loves playing in the water current and slurping up blood worms. Albert needs air to survive, but instead of swimming all of the way to the top of the tank, sometimes he will just swipe air bubbles from the bubbling treasure chest!
