Growing up riding horses has giving me some of the fondest memories of my childhood. I've made lifelong friends and even though I chose to stop riding once I picked up other sports in high school, it's a skill that I've never lost. I never would have though that my background with horses would become an asset during my internship at LVS.
But on one of my days off I received a phone call from Lisa Gotto. Lisa has always been happy and cheerful but on that day I could hear the urgency in her voice. She explained to me that there was a photo shoot scheduled for an equestrian feature story and the rider set to pose for the shoot had cancelled. “How do you feel about stepping up and being the person to model the clothes for me on Monday,” Lisa asked. So the next day instead of going into the office, I was on my way to Chaar to get fitted with the classiest, most luxurious boots, breaches and helmets I've ever seen.
The day of the shoot I was anxious but mostly excited to see my prop—the horses. The weather wasn't looking promising but I was excited to get the day underway. I walked into the barn to see the hair and make-up duo (all for me!) and photographer Alison Conklin waiting to work their magic to create my look. Once hair and make-up was finished it was time to change in the “dressing room,” an empty stall in the corner of the barn, and take some shots. The sun decided to come out just in time for the first outfit and I have to admit, being a model is harder than I had ever imagined! After three outfit changes, some Milano cookie breaks and an exhausted crew, the day was a success and I cannot wait to see the results in the August issue. My life as an intern is turning out to be a very interesting one!
