Long time, no blog! As you can tell by my blog title, I've been in full event mode for the past month. Fall not only brings cooler temps but a myriad of galas, fundraisers, lunches and benefits. Luckily, nothing excites me more than getting out in the community to work with new people and experience what each event has to offer.
Tuesday, October 9th was our monthly Style Insider Happy Hour at Maxim's 22, a brand new French brasserie in Downtown Easton. Being one of the very first patrons to step into the restaurant was exciting enough, but the overall atmosphere was one like no other. The ornate glass windows and the aroma of freshly baked bread made me feel like I was mere steps away from the streets of Paris. There's nothing like a night of cocktails, to-die-for French onion soup and a sneak peek of one of the newest additions to the Valley's restaurant scene.
Fast forward a few nights and you have one of the most anticipated and highly attended events of the year—Blackout 6. This AAO benefit introduced a new venue this year at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. Each level of the building offered a number of things to do; everything from hors d' oeuvres and dancing to photo booths and cocktails.
Being the fashion lover that I am, I took frequent breaks from my shift at the Style Wall to admire the head to toe black ensembles worn by some of the Valley's most influential attendees. My last few hours attending the event included a delicious tropical drink and showing off some serious moves on the dance floor—I can do a mean Cupid Shuffle!
The last but most certainly not least event of the week was the Women's 5K Health Expo—a preceding event before the 5K walk/run the following day. This was where women could pick up their race registration packets and sample food and products offered by local vendors all in support of breast cancer awareness.
As I filled women's goodie bags with our latest issue, I was in utter amazement of how many breast cancer survivors were in attendance (including our very own Denise Conlin, one of the most amazing women I've ever met, by the way). Seeing thousands of women sporting the color pink and sharing the common bond of support is nothing short of eye opening and absolutely incredible.
Filling my week with these three events has been chaotic but rewarding in so many different aspects. With a plethora of events in the weeks to come, I'll be running around the Valley with my trusty clipboard in tow—which event am I headed to next? Stay tuned to find out!
