Hi, Everyone!
The past few weeks have gone by in such a swift, smooth blur of interviews and articles! It's hard to describe my transition from brand new intern to intern who kind of knows what's going on, but here are a couple of my observations:
Even though I've been here almost a month, I haven't quite adjusted to the fast-paced, constantly-a-few-months-ahead mindset yet. It's barely July, and we're already thinking about fall here! I can't help feeling weird considering a thriller for the October edition while wearing a sundress and sandals.
However, the novelty of interning here seems to be on a boundless roll. Last week, I was so excited to see the July magazine coming back from the printer. It was the first time I'd ever been published in a print magazine, which felt numbingly happy and strange. I've always heard that college students shouldn't expect an internship until the summer after sophomore year, at the earliest, and, if they were lucky enough to get one, it would probably involve lots of errands and busywork. So, interning here has been a sweet, unexpected surprise that I'm realizing in waves. Seeing that magazine cover, the ever-present feeling of luckiness merged with the reality of the work we had all put into the edition, and I felt proud.
That's just my two cents about life as a Lehigh Valley Style intern. Enjoy your July and look out for the Our Favorite Things edition!
