My name is Lauren Principato, and I am the new summer marketing intern here at LVS. I am so happy to be here and I can't wait to keep everyone updated with what I am going to be doing each week. But first I want to tell you a little about myself. First and foremost, I am a LV native, calling Easton (well, Palmer Township, actually) home, so you could say I am pretty familiar with my surroundings!
While I love the LV, I needed to see something different for college, which has taken me to Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia where I am a rising Junior Food Marketing Co-Op major. You may be wondering what “Food Marketing” and what “Co-Op” means—allow me to explain. Food Marketing Co-Op is a program that is within St. Joe's business school, however it is a separate major in which we learn everything a regular marketing major learns, with courses that are food-specific, covering the ins and outs of the food industry. The Co-Op aspect of my education comes into play during my sophomore, senior, and fifth year senior semesters.
Last semester was my first Co-Op experience, when I interned in the specialty cheese department at Wegmans in Cherry Hill, NJ (just 16 miles from SJU). While I had an amazing time learning all about retail and cheese I wanted to further my marketing experience, which brought me to LVS.
When I arrived yesterday I was warmly welcomed by everyone in the office as Kelli Hertzog introduced me around. I was pleasantly surprised to find my desk accessorized with a flower arrangement and a bowl of Hershey Kisses, making me feel right at home.
Although it's only my second day, I have already sat in on a conference call, did some market research and, of course, began my blog. I look forward to learning more about how the magazine comes together each month, event planning and getting to know the staff. Be sure to check back with me next week when I gain a sneak peek of styling for August's Fashion & Beauty section!
