It is with damp eyes and a heavy heart that I say my final goodbyes to you, Style readers. I have officially ended my amazing summer editorial internship. I extend my gratitude to you for sharing the most exciting moments of my summer. Answering my first office phone call, behind the scenes at the “Best Of” bash and the fashion photo shoot, you were all there to listen to my thoughts and opinions as I experienced many of these for the first time. I am thankful for the privilege to blog about my internship this summer and thankful to you for actually reading it!
My last week in the office began with a preview of the fall fashion spread photos. All of the photos are absolutely stunning, but my favorites are the gym shots with the cute girls in the background. Yes, the blurry interns. Yes, I am biased. In all seriousness, the shots are spectacular, making downtown Allentown look more like New York City.
Last week, I made my way over to the The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar for the Style Insider Happy Hour. I said it in my last blog and I'll say it again: The Hamilton is a beautiful restaurant and looked even better full of life from the huge crowd attracted by the Happy Hour. I followed marketing intern Carrie and photographer Colin around the packed bar area while they took photos for Style Scene. This is really a two-person job (one photographer to take the picture, one intern to take down names) so a man jokingly asked why I was there. I assured him that being the backup intern is very serious business in the event that intern number one would be unable to perform her intern duties due to a catastrophe of some sort. Rest assured, Carrie made it through the night and I was not summoned to any particular activity.
My very last day at the office included a smorgasbord of cupcakes from Blondie's, lunch at blue and a lot of reflection. Just thinking about my escapades this summer brings a smile to my face. Starting this internship, I never expected that I would be able to meet so many remarkable people, many of them being my coworkers. Working with Lisa has been a joy and an inspiration and all of the other ladies in the office have made my summer unforgettable. I have learned the importance of working beside determined, positive people who work together to produce a respected and beloved product. I leave the office for the last time a more enlightened individual with the confidence to move forward toward a lifetime of wonderful experiences. I say goodbye in hopes of meeting you again somewhere, someday in the blogosphere, and I thank you again.
