Does a yoga session on a sparkling lake amidst a lush forest sound too good to be true? And what if that session was only a short drive away?
You probably would not be surprised to learn this intriguing trend originated in Hawaii and grew in popularity off the coast of California over the last couple of years.
Now the trend is spreading like wildfire to places all over the world, and Northeast PA is no exception! Two Lehigh Valley yoga instructors, Laurel Attanasio and Melanie Smith, are encouraging their students to make the switch from yoga mats to paddle boards. The team is offering private and small group SUP Yoga sessions for all skill levels at nearby Lake Nockamixon until the fall. Whether you take a class or tackle this trend on your own, here are three reasons to give SUP Yoga a try:

Blue skies with your very eyes!
No doubt about it, nature is the ultimate peaceful setting in which to practice yoga. No matter the angle or pose, you'll always have a spectacular view. Looking up to see a shining sun in a clear sky beats recessed lighting in the ceiling any day. With the sound of water gently shifting beneath you and the warm touch of the sun, you can't help but feel relaxed!
Mixing business with pleasure
SUP Yoga is not only extremely relaxing it is also a challenging full-body workout. Keeping your balance while doing yoga poses on water is a demanding task for all your muscle groups—especially your abs—something you'll appreciate later when you're admiring your new waistline! Additionally, you'll work your shoulders and oblique muscles when you paddle.

Refreshing cool down
An invigorating dip in the water is the cherry on top of a perfect session!
Session cost is $125 and $85 if you bring your own board.
