They say where there's smoke there's fire, and this may certainly be true when it comes to the Weekend at Burnie's cocktail offered up by Social Still on Bethlehem's south side. Rumor has it that this concoction isn't just smoking in appearance, but it brings the heat with a spicy flavor kick.
Owner Adam Flatt says the drink features pineapple-infused rum that is distilled in-house, fresh lemon juice, honey syrup and Kimi's orange bitters—also made in-house. It is served on the rocks, smoked to order and features a cayenne-salted rim. Oh, so that's where that kick comes from!
Flatt suggests pairing one with their Short Rib Flatbread for the perfect app and cocktail combo.
“The smoke lingering on the top is definitely a conversation starter,” says Flatt, who opened Social Still in 2014. It is the first distillery to open in the Lehigh Valley since Prohibition, according to Flatt. Social Still also produces ultra premium vodka, whiskey, gin, rum and bourbon at their East Third Street location.
