What's summer without an Aperol Spritz—or, in this case, an Aperol Fizz? The latter is available at Gio Italian Grill, and made with aperol (a vibrant orange-colored Italian bitter apéritif), Moscato, club soda and an orange twist. “It's light, refreshing and a beautiful color,” says Giovanna DiMaio, owner.
You may be surprised to see Moscato used here, versus prosecco, which has become fairly standard. “We were on the Amalfi Coast and had a few versions of the Spritz,” says DiMaio. “The restaurants there were using their homemade white wines, so some were sweeter than others, depending on the region or the grape. We preferred the sweeter and decided on Moscato.”
DiMaio recommends sipping the cocktail with their Gio Antipasta, which comes with imported meats and cheeses, olives and fire-roasted vegetables.
