You may think you've tried every cheesecake variation under the sun (ice cream, cookies, bites, bars and bombs), but have you ever eaten it in a cone? That's what Ciao Sandwich Shoppe in Easton is serving up—a crunchy almond caramel shell, shaped into a cone, and stuffed with cheesecake filling.
And before you jump to conclusions, this dessert greatly differs from a cannoli, which Ciao also offers. “They are amazing,” says Isaac Csezmadia, who owns Ciao with partners Frank Luise and Anthony Martelli, “but as a cannoli generally gets a sweet ricotta filling, our cheesecake cones are filled with cheesecake and shaped more like an ice cream cone.”
Csezmadia says the inspiration for the sweet treat came from Martelli. “[He] used to enjoy this cheesecake delicacy in his hometown, Brooklyn, New York.” Now you can find them in Easton, sold individually for $4.50 or two for $8, with made-to-order catering options also available. The cones come plain, with the option to add a strawberry glaze for what Csezmadia calls a “fantastic touch.”
