Hi, my name is Iris McCarthy and I'm Lehigh Valley Style's newest food columnist; I've been writing about food for quite some time and I'm also the author of the book Food Lovers' Guide to Philadelphia. Currently, I pen the back-of-the-book ‘Eat This' and ‘Drink This' articles that highlight palate-pleasing dishes and libations from restaurants in and around the Valley. In February 2014, you can catch my new food column, Fork in the Road (get it?), which will document this new-in-town girl's culinary adventures around the Valley.
Oh, that's right—I forgot to mention that I'm originally from Delaware and, while I've been living in Pennsylvania for about three years, the Lehigh Valley is still relatively new to me. I'm looking forward to making the area my “chomping ground” and experiencing not only some tried-and-true favorites but discovering some culinary gems along the way.
Speaking of gems, I'm working on November's ‘Decadent Dish' feature in which you, the readers, made your voices heard and, boy, are your voices loud! Lehigh Valley dwellers are certainly foodies with strong opinions about which establishments reign supreme. I was touched by your fondness for local restaurateurs and your connection to mainstay eateries. I can't wait to share the results with you.
