Thursday, July 13th is now Fryday—National French Fry Day, that is. Don't forget to celebrate this fast-food staple by eating your favorite dish or trying something new. Here are some fabulous fries you can potat-entially enjoy the day with.
Mediterranean Fries
Frites is not only the Belgian word for fries but it's also a restaurant! At Frites in the Lehigh Valley Mall, the Mediterranean Fries are made with fries cooked in peanut oil, grilled chicken, homemade hummus, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and tahini sauce.
Vegetarian Chili Fries
Frites also dishes out Vegetarian Chili Fries. These fries are served with vegetarian chili, cheese sauce and scallions. Mix it up in a bowl or on a warm flatbread pita with one of their 12 dipping sauces.
Pizza Fries
What's better than pizza with a side a fries? Pizza Fries. At Spuds in Kutztown, Pizza Fries are fries that are covered in marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni and then baked.
The Barnyard
Also at Spuds, The Barnyard is made with fries topped with BBQ pork, melted cheddar, sautéed onions, bacon, a fried egg and cayenne ranch. If their list of more than 40 fry options doesn't satisfy you, build your own for $4.99.
Short Rib Poutine
At Two Rivers Brewing Company in Easton, the Short Rib Poutine is served in a hot skillet and made with Belgian fries, ale-braised short ribs, cheese curds, caramelized onions and an ale demi-glace. As an alternative, their Disco Frites are made with Belgian fries, cheese curds and an ale demi-glace. Before you leave, don't forget to try one of their Apple Cider Doughnuts.
Cajun Fries
Five Guys is known for their burgers, but this burger joint also serves fresh cut fries cooked in peanut oil. The original boardwalk fries are good, but, for an added kick, order the fries Cajun style. This special mix of spices can be on the fries or on the side. Don't forget to order a vanilla shake for dipping.
Crabfries
Chickie's and Pete's, at the PPL Center in Allentown, is famous for its Crabfries®. The fries are made with crinkle-cut French fries and covered in Chickie's and Pete's secret crab spices. For extra authentic Chickie's and Pete's experience, dip the fries in their creamy white cheese sauce.
Wert's Special Fries
Wert's Café in Allentown has been serving their specialty French fries since 1968.Wert's special fries are freshly cut, seasoned and topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and cheese sauce. And if you want to switch it up a bit, curly, sweet potato or eggplant fries are also available.
