If there's one thing I can never turn down, it's fries. I've never met a fry I didn't like—okay, love—but what they serve at Tapas is not a normal fry. It's a masterpiece. Tapas on Main is known for its small dishes (in fact, the word “tapas” refers to appetizers or snacks of Spanish cuisine), but this heaping stack of truffle fries is more than enough to share.
The skillet of fries is topped with Manchego cheese (a Spanish cheese comparable to a sharp cheddar) and truffle oil from Seasons Olive Oil & Vinegar Taproom just a few doors down. This dish is a crowd favorite that has been on the menu since Tapas' opening, says Assistant Manager Kristina Santillo. Owner Juan Carlos Paredes reiterates this, explaining that customers call the dish “crack fries” and jokes that people come in two or three times a week specifically for them.
Even still, you won't see boxes of frozen fries being lugged into the kitchen's back door. These babies are specially hand-cut, never bought.
