“Weenie Wednesday officially started in 2018,” says Social Still general manager Katie Oscavich. “The Lehigh Valley is filled with hot dog people, and we wanted to add to the offerings by showcasing the amazing all-beef hot dogs from Nello’s Specialty Meats.”
Pictured here are the Chicago Dog, topped with sport peppers, tomato, onion, relish, dill pickle, mustard and celery salt on a poppy seed bun; the Corn Dog, with sweet mochi batter, Takis, ancho ranch, avocado crema and cilantro; and the Southside Perro Caliente: a Nello’s all-beef chili cheese dog, sweet relish, cabbage, ketchup and mustard, avocado crema and house-made barbecue potato chips.
Other varieties include the Beanie Weenie, featuring a Nello’s all-beef chili cheese dog topped with chopped brisket baked beans, Tomboy Bourbon barbecue mustard and barbecue chips; the Ripper Dog, which is a deep-fried Nello’s all-beef hot dog with Cooper cheese, onion and yellow mustard; and the Seoul Dog, which comes with sweet honey gochujang, furikake and cauliflower kimchi slaw.
Oscavich recommends pairing your Weenie Wednesday order with Social Still’s Old Fashioned. “The smoky barrel-aged bourbon pairs well with Nello’s smoked dogs,” she says. Or the Cucumber Lemondrop “for when you are eating a spicy dog and need a refreshing cocktail to cool down.”
The special is available from 4 p.m. to close on Wednesdays in October (and again from Memorial Day through Labor Day). Enjoy two dogs and a side for $12 or three dogs and a side for $18.
