At the beginning of the pandemic, many women were concerned about how they were going to maintain their hair color at home. After countless emails, we, the professional hairstylists, were pleading with our clients to leave their hair alone and wait for our return. Upon reopening in the early summer, the common trend was that many women were (and still are) working from home. With nowhere to go, besides a Zoom meeting, our guests are looking for ways to extend not only the days in between washes but the longevity of their hair color.
Creating a Hair Schedule
At Rooted Salon, we strive to educate each client on proper hair care and professional products. We pride ourselves on carrying an array of high-end products designed for all hair types.
We recommend that each guest creates a "schedule" for their hair. For example, on day one, (Monday), you will detoxify, wash, and condition the hair. Let's say that you are a blonde; we would suggest that you implement a purple shampoo to your wash day routine to brighten and tone your hair. You would then blowdry and heat style (flat iron, curling iron, etc.). When heat styling, we recommend that you are always turning your hot tools to a low setting and use a heat protectant. We would suggest that on this wash day, a minimal amount of styling products are used.
On day two (Tuesday) you would apply dry shampoo to your root area, brush through your hair, and apply a minimal amount of heat. We recommend you try to go at least every other day in between washing. The natural oils that your scalp produces are actually very nourishing to your hair. Sometimes, for those of you who are washing your hair on a daily basis, you will need to go through a period of "training" your hair to get used to not washing as often. Professional shampoo and conditioners will help this process as they are not filled with silicones, fillers, parabens and sulfates that weigh the hair down and add unnecessary supplements.
