Whether it’s a fun frolic into the supernatural or a quest for closure, visiting a medium is an exercise in receptivity, one that the Lehigh Valley Medium makes lighthearted and healing. Matthew Kamont decided to lean into his uncanny talent over a decade ago and provides group and private readings, passing on messages from beyond. Here’s how it works.
Psychic vs. Medium
Though both work with an intuitive sense, the psychic and the medium delve into different depths. “All mediums are psychic,” Kamont says, “but not all psychics are mediums.”
While psychics tell their clients about their present lives and potential futures, mediums are often able to sense these more mundane matters as well as provide a conduit for energy or messages from "the other side."

What’s That Like?
With his typical and ironically down-to-earth humor, Kamont is quick to clarify that “No one pulls up a chair and starts shooting the shit.”
Instead, he’ll receive impressions in his mind that draw on his own memories, visual inventory and emotions, and translate them into meaningful messages. For example, “When a spirit shows me something like the Road Runner from Looney Tunes, that usually tells me that somebody was rushing to get by their side before they passed.”
Like a skeptic might have to suspend disbelief to fully engage in a medium reading, Kamont has learned to trust and believe in the impulses that overtake him, even when they have him embodying a bossy persona and interrupting a client to give a pushy message, or voicing something that seems totally out of left field. Nine times out of 10, it ends up resonating with clients in a powerful way.
Gallery vs. Private Readings
With audiences of 30–100 people, Kamont’s group readings cast a wide net for communicative spirits. He can personally relay impressions to around 15 or 20 audience members, but the other attendees benefit from the experience even if they don’t hear from anyone directly.
“People come up after a group and tell me it touched them and gave them closure,” Kamont says. “With grief, we tend to look inward at what happened to us, and it’s so healing to sit with others who are dealing with the exact same thing.”
Gallery readings are also a great way to dip your foot in, to see if you feel comfortable with a given medium and their style.
“A private reading,” Kamont points out, “is a very personal thing.” His private readings, either in his Easton office or at clients’ homes, go until they’re truly tapped out, often for two or three hours. A group event is the more accessible option for Kamont, whose private readings are booked up through fall of 2023!
What to Expect
If you’re singled out in a gallery or get a private reading, there are a few ways to get the most out of your experience.
“Just be open,” Kamont advises. “Most of what you hear should make sense, but for things that don’t, I may be interpreting it wrong, the spirit may be confused or the message may be for someone who’s not present.”
Jot everything down and you may make a connection later, or tell someone else who gets a lot out of it. “The spirit is not trying to make it complicated,” Kamont feels. “So why are you? They’re giving it in the rawest form.”
He also suggests reaching out to those you’re hoping to connect with—and those you aren’t—ahead of time. “Ask grandpa not to come,” Kamont says, “and ask him to make sure dad comes through. Call out to loved ones about what you want and who you want.”
With that said, don’t expect demands to be met for a certain person or topic. Spirits still have free will!
Signs
Have you wondered whether a certain noise in the empty house is a gesture from Pop-Pop, or if the sight of a cardinal is the presence of mom? People are hard-wired for signs, and Kamont has an explanation.
“They’re not turning into the butterfly, they’re not directing the bird with a remote control, but signs are given to us by our loved ones to let us know they’re nearby.”
Imagine your person is just gently turning your head so you’ll notice what they do. They might wish to draw your attention to something symbolically or just to share a moment with you.
Find Him on Facebook
Kamont has made a habit of going live on Facebook for Messages with Matt on Sundays at 9 p.m. He reads cards, talks about signs and symbols, and gives thousands of watchers his impressions. Check him out on Facebook, at a local show or on his website to pursue the mystery.
