Tell us about what initially inspired you to open Ebert Furniture Gallery. After spending a decade working in the home furnishings industry, I felt there was a need for a store that provided a higher level of goods and services but that was also a value. On one end, the Lehigh Valley consumer had to choose from low-quality imports at the big-box stores as well as established furniture stores that had traded down to compete with the big boxes. On the other end, the consumer had small interior design shops with overpriced products that also lacked the capacity to deliver and service those products. We combined high-quality, American-made furniture with full-service in-house delivery and interior design.
What’s the overall vibe at the showroom like? Describe the shopping experience! Our customers tell us the experience is the most enjoyable furniture shopping they have ever had! They describe it as stress-free with as much or as little help as they need. We want our customers to feel at home the minute they walk through the door. We give them plenty of room to browse but are always available to answer product and design questions. The vibe is an old-school full-service store with updated styles and products to accommodate tastes from traditional to modern.
Tell us about the variety of furniture, rugs, accents and art available. All of our products are available in hundreds of combinations allowing you to get exactly what you want. Our fabric and leather seating is available in hundreds of different colors and patterns as well as styles, sizes and levels of seating firmness. Our solid wood dining, bedroom and occasional pieces are available in multiple finishes, styles and sizes. We have a wide variety of rugs in multiple styles and sizes. The majority of our artwork is hand painted by my talented wife, Roey. Roey works in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic and watercolor. She has developed a strong following throughout the Lehigh Valley and her original pieces help to further set our showroom apart from the chains.
Talk about the design services offered! How much personalization and customization is available? The majority of our interior design service is provided by Carolyn Crew, who has been our principal designer since we opened in 2004. Carolyn has a design degree from Drexel University as well as over 25 years’ experience in the design field. We offer full-service interior design and color consultation complete with floor plans. The design service is offered on location in your home or business as well as in our showroom. This service is fully customizable to achieve the goals of how you wish to utilize the space where you live or work! The customization is virtually unlimited and we offer reupholstering and refinishing as well.

Where can locals find your work in and around the Lehigh Valley? In addition to thousands of private residences and offices, you can find Ebert Furniture in some of your favorite Lehigh Valley haunts. We have furnished the rooms, lobbies, conference centers and restaurants of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem since 2008. Most recently you can find our furnishings in the newly renovated Inn at Skytop Lodge in the Poconos. We are featured in some of the Lehigh Valley’s finest restaurants, including our neighbor Grille 3501 and their sister restaurant, Zest Bar and Grille in Bethlehem. One of the most fun and unique locations to find Ebert Furniture is in a majority of the luxury suites and common areas at Coca-Cola Park for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs!
How has your business had to pivot and adjust during the pandemic? We have enhanced cleaning protocols, mandated mask wearing and social distancing is always practiced. Other than the safety measures, we didn’t change the way we do business. After weathering the mandated three-month shutdown, we reopened the showroom for in-person shopping as well as offering after-hours appointments for those high-risk customers.
What are you looking forward to this winter? My wife and I are looking forward to spending the holidays with our six kids as they all head home for their school breaks. I’m also looking forward to seeing our longtime repeat customers who have become friends as they head back out after the quarantine. I always enjoy meeting new people who venture into the store for the first time and learning about them. The interaction with customers is my favorite part of the business and what I missed most during the COVID shutdown. We have been blessed with terrific customers over the years and those relationships are what keep this business interesting and fun. I could not imagine doing anything else and look forward to serving the Lehigh Valley and beyond for many years to come!
