In honor of Pride Month, we're sharing a few local ways to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. We encourage you to support these promotions and events, many of which will benefit the work of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. Learn about the center's mission and get to know the founder here!
And because pride doesn't end in June, mark your calendar for Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center's "Be Loud! Be Proud!" event on August 21. Find all of the details here!
1. Kick off Pride Month on June 1 with a panel and ceremonial flag raising in the heart of Bethlehem. For the first time in Bethlehem's history, a Pride Flag will be flying at City Hall. There will be a panel discussing services and the community's mission from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Town Hall, followed by a ceremonial flag raising at Payrow Plaza at 12:30 p.m.
2. Now through August 14, the Banana Factory in Bethlehem is housing the Queering Care exhibition that invites locals to explore how queer communities have and continue to expand, reframe and redefine what it means to care for one another.
3. Kick off Pride Month on June 1 with Brabury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center's Work it Wednesday at Sports & Social Allentown. From 5–7 p.m., enjoy drag performances by Enigma and Ashlyn Manhattan.
4. Element Design Co. launched its Pride Collection of mini field-style frames, rainbow confetti coasters and ring holders on June 1. The shop will be donating 15 percent of the collection's proceeds to Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Center.
5. Enjoy an afternoon Equali-Tea at the Sayre Mansion in Bethlehem on Thursday, June 9. Indulge in freshly brewed tea, finger sandwiches and desserts. Tickets are $45 and $10 from each ticket sold will go to the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.
6. Pride Night at Coca-Cola Park is on Tuesday, June 21, and Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center is partnering with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to bring a special package that includes a discounted ticket for the 7:05 p.m. game and a T-shirt. Plus, all fans will receive a free Pride Night flag upon entrance.
7. Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center partnered with Sports & Social Allentown to bring the Valley their first-ever drag brunch on June 26. Tickets are $20 and give access to discounted drinks and featured entertainment by DJ Mourning Glory, Christina Vixen, Lehigh Valley native Venus Mystique and a surprise special guest.
8. Painting with a Twist in Bethlehem is inviting the community to fill their Sunday evening with a prideful painting. From 4–7 p.m. on June 26, paint “Starry Night Pride Over Steel Stacks." The event is BYOB and 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.
