Men of Style
By: Fashion Features, Lehigh Valley Style February 2014, Features, Lehigh Valley Style, Personality Profiles, Men of Style, Fashion

We're always on the lookout for guys who exude confidence and style, and this was a fruitful year for finding them. So much so, that some candidates will need to wait their turn until next year for their coveted spot as a Man of Style. Don't stress, men; the year will fly by just like that!

TODAY'S MODERN GENTLEMAN

Phillip Hart, 30

Easton | Consultant

Describe your personal style: Sprezzatura Americana.

My biggest style influences are: Steve McQueen and David Beckham.

My favorite item in my closet is: My bulletproof Kevlar pocket square by Sruli Recht.

My signature scent is: Voyage d'Hermès.

If money were no object, I would buy: The right advice, support and the necessary resources for my next startup, a private jet service and a vicuña cashmere blanket for my mom.

The oldest item in my closet is: My grandfather's everyday wool cardigan. He got it in the ‘50s and handed it down to me a few years before he passed on.

The newest item in my closet is: An attaché from the Grand Bazaar.

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: Post-It notes all over the place.

My favorite brands are: Gucci, Missoni, Zara, H&M

The most expensive item in my closet is: My winter coat from Rovigo, Italy.

HE'S A KNOCKOUT!

Larry Holmes, Jr., 31

Easton | Publishing

Describe your personal style: Smart casual.

My favorite brand is: Hugo Boss.

My biggest style influence is: I am a big fan of Boardwalk Empire on HBO. I like the fashion and the look of the 1920s.

My favorite item in my closet is: A vintage Rolex that was given to me as a gift.

My signature scent is: 212 VIP MEN, Carolina Herrera.

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: Cowboy boots

If money were no object, I would buy: Google.

The oldest item in my closet is: An ‘80s T-shirt made by Pony.

The newest item in my closet is: A Barbour jacket.

THE DOCTOR IS INTO DETAILS

Johnny Chung, MD, 41

Breinigsville | Plastic Surgeon, Partner at Kevitch & Chung, Aesthetic Surgery Associates

Describe your personal style: Professionally: sharp with a bit of edginess. At home: comfy casual.

My favorite brands are: True Religion, Canali, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Diesel, Buffalo David, Lucky, Brooks Brothers.

My biggest style influence is: David Beckham. He looks sharp in a suit, but can also dress down when with family.

My favorite item in my closet is: Buffalo David jeans. They make the softest denim.

My signature scent is: Penhaligon's Endymion.

The oldest item in my closet is: My first pair of Diesel jeans with lots of holes.

The newest item in my closet is: A Dormeuil suit.

If money were no object, I would buy: A penthouse in NYC facing Central Park

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: Lots of signature ties that I rarely wear.

The most expensive item in my closet is: My Dormeuil suits.

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL?

Bryon Grigsby, 45

Bethlehem | President, Moravian College

Describe your personal style: Classic executive for work and business casual outside of work.

My favorite brands are: Ralph Lauren and Levi's.

My biggest style influence is: Michael Jordan.

My favorite item in my closet is: A tie from Disney World that my daughter gave me. When I wear it, I know it's going to be a Mickey Mouse kind of day.

My signature scent is: Drakkar.

If money were no object, I would buy: Canali and Hickey Freeman

The oldest item in my closet is: My Moravian College soccer warm up sweatshirt from 1986.

The newest item in my closet is: A grey Hickey Freeman suit that I received for Christmas.

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: Way too many ties to count.

The most expensive item in my closet is: The Hickey Freeman suit.

MR. PRACTICAL MEETS PANACHE

Glenn Charles Neiman, 56

Allentown | Business Manager, Young Medical Spa

Describe your personal style: Always evolving. Seventy-percent classic items for longevity, 30 percent trendy items to stay engaged with current fashions and have some fun.

My favorite brands are: What I love: Tom Ford, John Varvatos and Prada. What I can afford and buy: Calvin Klein, Armani Exchange and Guess.

My biggest style influence is: The fashion education I received from my oldest friend Gene Bielecki, "Mrs. B." Almost 40 years ago she exposed me to the world of fashion and made me aware of designers and their styles and shared an appreciation for them with me. From her I learned that style is synonymous with confidence.

My favorite item in my closet is: A 25-year-old Versace mustard-colored wool coat. The color startles some people, but it always did. It's a timeless design and a fun reminder of how finding something I had to have was more important than my next meal!

My signature scent is: #1 Carolina Herrera—it's my signature in my room, my car and my dry cleaning bag. #2 Abercrombie and Fitch, Fierce—never got so many compliments about a fragrance in my life.

If money were no object, I would buy: A Tom Ford tuxedo—with him in it!

The newest item in my closet is: A pair of blue Pumas—or to be exact, "dark shadow-metallic blue."

The oldest item in my closet is: Fortunately, unlike my waist, my shoe size has remained constant and I would have to say a pair of black and white wingtip shoes from my disco days. They have come back in style and I wore them and they were extremely comfortable! I guess spinning around a dance floor really broke them in!

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: Cowboy boots and Western-style shirts. I grew up with horses in my younger days and going to rodeos with the family. I guess it left some lasting imprint.

The most expensive item in my closet is: A coat—take your pick, Gucci or Burberry.

MR. NO-FUSS CUSTOM

James McLean, 67

Allentown | SVP, Investments; Steel Valley Investment Group of Raymond James

Describe your personal style: You only get one chance to make a first impression.

My favorite brands are: None, brands don't matter to me. I simply like what I like.

My biggest style influences are: Steve McQueen in the original The Thomas Crown Affair movie.

My favorite item in my closet is: Any of my sweaters.

My signature scent is: Whatever my wife buys me.

If money were no object, I would buy: Nothing, money is always a factor.

The oldest item in my closet is: A pair of dress shoes—Cordovan penny loafers I've had for 25 years.

The newest item in my closet is: A pair of brown ankle-high boots.

If you looked in my closet, you would be surprised to find: My old Army dress uniform.

The most expensive item in my closet is: My suits. They are all custom-made for me.
