Matt and Courtney met at the Rail Jam snowboarding event in Easton, and Matt would later propose on the snowy anniversary of their first date.
With roads covered in snow, they hiked up to South Mountain, snowboarded down and then took a cross-country ski around town. When they decided to make a snow woman, Matt insisted they dress it like Courtney. He stepped back and said, "If this is you, it's still missing one thing." He started to put a ring on the snow woman, turned and said, "Just kidding, this is for you." A very sappy speech followed, and snowflakes and tears graced their faces as they giggled in the yard.
They were married by the water at Lake Naomi Clubhouse in the Poconos, with cozy blankets and apple cider on a perfect October day. The sky was blue, the trees fiery and the air crisp. Matt canoed to the ceremony site with his best man.
Matt and Courtney's one surviving grandparent was honored with the duty of Flower Gram, and a friend officiated the ceremony they wrote themselves. Cocktail hour was held on the dock overlooking the lake. As the sun set, everyone moved into the dining room for a buffet that included a mashed potato bar. Dancing kicked off with a first dance, Flaming Lips' "Do You Realize," and the couple performed a routine to "Pennsylvania Polka.”
The night was spent eating cupcakes, taking photo-booth pictures, drinking and enjoying the company of loved ones.
