The Proposal
Amanda DeHaven and Shane Austin met far from their native Eastern Pennsylvania, teaching high school science in Manassas, Virginia. She started to ply him for swimming tips and the friendship turned to more. After a basketball game at Amanda's alma mater, Shane popped the question at the Syracuse Kissing Bench, where legend has it lip-locking sweethearts are destined to be together forever.
The Big Day
Their intimate “microwedding” consisted of 18 guests (plus their dog, Cece). An Airbnb hosted their guests from Friday all the way to Sunday for a long weekend party. It was punctuated by their wedding at Promise Ridge, a secluded ceremony space in the Poconos only nine minutes from where Amanda grew up. Alisa Tongg officiated a very personal and heartfelt event followed by cake and champagne. Their micro-party took the festivities to dinner at Stroudsmoor Country Inn, then headed back to their Airbnb to continue the celebration.
