The Proposal
Colleagues at St. Luke's University Health Network, Christine Heckman and Haley Kavelak soon became a loving couple. At Joshua Tree National Park, seated in a convertible under the night sky, Christine revealed that she'd named a star for Haley in the International Star Registry, and wanted to marry her.
The Big Day
Haley's brother officiated in a space resplendent with bamboo pillars and succulents. Scrumptious vegan cuisine included a naked wedding cake made by Christine's 13-year-old cousin. Haley's late father had a loving presence at the wedding, appearing in a locket in her bouquet, a “something blue” heart cut from one of his shirts and pinned to her dress and featured in a surprise from Haley's brother, who set clips from home movies to the song “Butterfly Kisses” for a brother-sister dance that had the whole room in tears. The party continued at Wind Creek Casino.
