Now that spring fashion is in full bloom, I find that this time of year is best to invest in a few dresses, mainly because there is such a huge selection out there from retailers because of the holidays, weddings and signs of warmer weather. So naturally, it’s a great time to buy. I have rounded up a few of my top dress picks for spring that could be worn for a variety of occasions.
Ruffles
I love any detail that is a bit exaggerated—but not to the point of being obnoxious. A ruffle dress is a great way to add interest to your look without going overboard, plus they are so comfortable. We are seeing a lot of florals with ruffles and frills, which I love, and the simplicity of this solid grey ruffle mini dress from Misguided is a real winner.

Gingham
When done right, this pattern is far from your mother’s picnic tablecloth. The great thing about gingham dresses is that this season designers have created really chic silhouettes and colors. I really can’t decide on just one that I love: this black gingham tiered shirt dress from Asos is both stylish and work friendly, and this long spaghetti strap gingham dress from J.Crew is perfect to wear to a BBQ or an outdoor wedding with a structured jacket. It screams versatility and it will make a statement.
Denim
Everyone should own at least one denim dress, as they really aren’t a trend, they should be a staple in your wardrobe. This chambray cold shoulder dress from Nordstrom is lightweight and can definitely be carried through summer and into early fall.

Midi
Move over maxi dresses, midi dresses have taken the spotlight. They are the right length to either style your outfit casually or elevated. You get the same look and comfort as the maxi BUT you see the shoes… and it’s all about the shoes. This lavender lace midi dress from Nordstrom is a piece that I personally own and it is really beautiful on the body. Plus, the color is on trend and it’s perfect to wear to brunch.
Style Tip: To make this look a little edgy, wear it with a bootie, like these black peep-toes from Macy’s.

Faux Leather
Leather isn’t just for cooler temps, it can be worn through all of the seasons depending on the style. This faux leather v-neck dress with straps from Zara has a cut that is perfect for spring/summer, and the style is very feminine. The black leather gives it a really cool and modern vibe.
Style Tip: Wear it during the day with an embellished slide, like these yellow studded criss-cross sandals from Lord and Taylor.
