The famous Tiffany Blue Box® has been an icon of style and sophistication since the late 1800s—so much so, even the mere mention of its name in print requires a copyright designation.
It was one woman’s love of this blue box and another woman’s love for a certain gentleman (and Audrey Hepburn!) that provided the inspiration for a bridal shower of what else, but iconic proportions.
The Invitation:
Gottschall says she wanted to create an invitation that was jaw dropping and would leave no doubt as to what the theme was. Guests were asked to wear LBD's, or Little Black Dresses, elegant hats and lots of diamonds and pearls. Of course, Holly Golightly took center stage on this invite embellished with rick-rack trim, diamond-like studs and bordered with Tiffany blue colored card stock.
The special invitation poem penned by Gottschall reads:
The Menu:
Brunch:
Smoked salmon platter with bagels, capers, chopped eggs, chopped red onions, sliced tomatoes and cream cheese; mini spinach and cheese quiche, Grand Marnier fruit salad with whipped cream topping, mini Tiffany blue parfaits with blueberry mint, yogurt and granola.
French toast casserole, brown sugar-cinnamon Belgian waffles with homemade vanilla whipped cream and fresh fruit.
Scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, sausage and curry potatoes
Beverages:
Icy blue punch served in a large, sterling silver punch bowl, mimosas, tea and coffee
The Favor:
A Cracker Jack box
Gottschall actually carefully opened each box, put the contents aside and disposed of the normal prize inside in lieu of a pair of cubic zirconia stud earrings in a sheer, Tiffany blue fabric drawstring bag. The boxes were put back together so meticulously one would never know they were ever opened.
The Music:
A playlist compiled by Gottschall including hits like “Moon River” and “Something for the Cat” from the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” soundtrack album, “Diamonds,” by Rhianna and “Diamond Girl” by Seals & Crofts.
With no detail too small, our party planner, Jamie Gottschall says it took her months to put together the bridal brunch, but she would no doubt do it again for her friend Jess and for the love of entertaining, itself.
