When did you know you wanted to get into this profession? Adventuring around Downtown Easton as a kid, I made friends with a woman whom I often saw braiding her daughter’s hair. She taught me how to cornrow first, then French, fishtail, inside out, you name it. I taught my dad, and from then on, he braided my hair however I wanted for school. I loved the way my “fancy hair” made me feel. I thought the smile on each friend leaving my little hair chair must have meant I passed that feeling along, too.
Best tips for a simple summer look? Summer is about being natural, not just looking it under lots of makeup. Use a tinted moisturizer and a little coconut oil on your cheekbones and nose for a beautiful glow! For more full coverage (or to save money), cut your foundation with coconut oil instead. Finish with SPF lip balm, bronzer, black mascara and bronze eyeliner.
What part of your job do you enjoy most? Definitely the making-people-feel-good part. Hands down. And when I go on location, if they have a dog at their place, that’s a close second. I love dogs as much as I love helping clients remember how beautiful they are.

How do you approach a boudoir-shoot look versus wedding-day makeup? In general, boudoir-makeup looks lend themselves to more drama and sex appeal. Bridal looks are just as alluring, but in a subtler way. Color selection will help distinguish one makeup look from another in this case.
What trends do you see this year in wedding hair and makeup? The trend with hair is very romantic, whimsical, piecey and lived-in (but pinned to withstand a wind storm). Our brides most often request makeup looks with eyes that pop, lip colors that last and skin that has a natural glow.
Must-have makeup products everyone should know about? Ah, my secrets! For summer, I’m really in love with these cruelty-free products: Ciaté Dewy Stix, Ofra liquid lipsticks and eyeliners by Eyeko—plus their mascara is everything, including custom-made just for your lashes!
Favorite Instagram for makeup inspiration? I like to watch different artists for their talent in particular aspects of makeup that resonate with our brand. My favorite for eyes (and spunk) is public figure Carli Bybel, who is ironically a second cousin. I want to offer makeup that’s authentic and healthy, exuding natural glow, not glitter. Brows are more hair than pencil, and lashes are full but authentic in length. Natural cheek lines are accentuated, not drawn.
Is there a current look that you hope goes away?
Yes, the exaggerated, overdrawn-lip look. Just love yourself, ladies!
