"Hike it Baby is a nonprofit organization dedicated to getting new families outdoors and on trails across the U.S. and internationally by hosting hikes and walks in nearly 300 branches across the U.S. and in nine other countries,” says Shannon Frankosky, Lehigh Valley Branch Ambassador. “Since its grassroots inception in 2013 in Portland, Oregon, we are now a growing community of 172,000 families, 580 volunteer branch ambassadors and over 5,000 hikes per month.” With a goal of at least one event or adventure a week, the Lehigh Valley Hike it Baby chapter hopes to gather families, partners and nannies within the area for an afternoon of discovery and unity.
“As a platform to gather and grow communities, Hike it Baby offers new parents an opportunity to connect and get into nature with their young children nationwide,” says Frankosky. “Sure, anybody can go hiking, but as a new parent, how many times have you struggled to find new friends who understand what you are going through and who will support you in a judgment-free community that will never leave you behind?” There are no costs involved in joining the Hike it Baby community, and while the location of each hike may vary, the distance typically stays around two miles.
